What are the benefits of sending my child to Stockland Primary School?
All of our teachers are dedicated, highly trained and skilled primary specialists. All of our teachers have worked towards or are working towards further professional qualifications, such as the NPQ in Senior Leadership.
Will I get a place if I don’t live in the catchment area?
Whilst priority is given to those resident in the catchment area, we have a large number of children from surrounding towns and villages. In the first instance, please refer to our current Admissions Policy on our website.
How many classes in school and what are the class sizes?
There are presently three classes in school. Class 1 comprises Reception and Year 1 children and currently has 17 pupils. Class 2 has Year 2 and Year 3 children whilst Class 3 includes Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6. Both these classes have 28 pupils.
All of the classes are supported by well-trained teaching assistants.
What time does school open and close each day?
Children are allowed into school from 8.40am each morning and the school day officially starts at 8.50am.
The school day finishes at 3.30pm, however there are a number of extra-curricular activities which continue to 4.30pm. See our clubs page for information.
Is there before and after school care?
A before school and after school club are provided by Stockland Pre-School on their site and they bring the children up to school.
What food/drink can my child bring into school?
Each child should bring a mid-morning snack of fruit or vegetable. We also like children to have a named bottle of water with them.
Children are provided with a hot free school meal or you can send in a packed cold lunch for lunchtime if you prefer.
Additionally, each child will be offered a piece of fruit at some point during the day.
Do you have a school uniform?
Yes and this can be purchased from Honiton Sports, 66 High Street, Honiton EX14 1PD (www.honiton-sports-ltd.myshopify.com)
The PTFA often sell previously worn uniform for a small charge.

Please contact the school receptionist on 01404 881456 and leave a message when prompted or email: admin.stockland@acexcellence.co.uk
What do I do if I’m worried about my child?
Please speak to your child’s teacher in the first instance.
How will I know how my child is getting on?
We have two formal parent’s evenings and an end of year report.
In reception, there are many opportunities to speak to the class teacher both informally and on a more formal basis: we hold several class visits a year which give you the chance to see what is going on in your child’s class.
What if I think my child is very bright?
Your child will be assessed on entry; this is called the Early Years Foundation Stage Baseline. Your child will be unaware that this is happening as it is administered by the teacher in a non-threatening way. The outcome will be discussed with you and will help the teacher provide an appropriate curriculum for your child.
Are there any extra-curricular activities?
Yes and these take place for an hour after school. These have included football, hockey, cricket, cross country, dance, fencing, Spanish, craft, lego and music.
Which secondary school do children move on to?
Officially, we feed into Honiton Community College, however due to the wide area from which our children travel to school, children can move on to several different schools including Woodroffe School at Lyme Regis, Axe Valley School in Axminster or Holyrood Academy in Chard.
Children who successfully pass the 11+ move on to Colyton Grammar School.
